Why would you want an antenna on your garage door?

The simple answer is to increase the range of your remote.  Most remotes have a range of around 40-50m.  If you require a little longer range of your remote you can see up to 50% increase in range by installing an Antenna to your opener.

But, if the reasoning for your range issues is interference then this will just compound the problem.  This will make your receiver more sensitive to the interference.  Interference can be caused by something as small as a baby monitor or as big as a substation next door or even an US war ship docking.
