The Merlin M842S remote is compatible with the below Merlin Garage Door Openers and remotes.
The Merlin M842 Remote, often referred to as the Merlin 230T remote or Merlin 430R Remote in the industry, is made to work with the Merlin Prolift 230T and 430R Garage Door Openers produced from 2001 to 2007. In this series, two other remotes—M832 and M844—were introduced; however, the Manufacturer has since discontinued them. Furthermore, the M842 Remote can also be used effectively with the Merlin M-530 and M-532 standalone receivers.

Remote Programming Prolift M430R and 230T
See below for where to find the LEARN Button on your motor model or receiver.
To learn a remote to activate the opener:
- Press the LEARN button for 1-2 seconds, until the courtesy lamp begins to flash slowly.
- Press the desired remote button, wait 1 second, press the desired remote button again. The courtesy lamp will stop flashing once learning is complete.
To learn a remote to activate both opener and lamp:
- Press the learn button for 1-2 seconds, until the courtesy lamp begins to flash slowly.
- Press the desired remote button for control of the opener, wait 1 second, press the desired remote button for control of the courtesy lamp. The courtesy lamp will stop flashing once learning is complete.
To delete all remotes from the opener’s memory
Note: This device has a maximum of 20-25 wireless controls that can be learned to the opener (each button = 1 control). Once the memory is full the earliest device programmed will be deactivated to allow for a new device.
- Press and hold the learn button for eleven seconds, until the courtesy lamp stops flashing. After six seconds it will flash fast as a warning. If you release the learn button during this warning period, then the memory will not be wiped.
M430R Learn Button
The learn button is a red learn button under the red control panel cover on the front face of the opener.

230T Learn Button
The learn button is on the underside of the opener inside the lamp cover. Remove the lamp cover by turning the catch on its underside. Remove the green control panel cover to expose the setup controls. Identify the red learn button.
Merlin M532 Receiver
The learn button is the small circle at the base of the large circle found on the receiver.
Note: If you have a a receiver without the outside cover ie M530. The Learn Button will be the bottom button on the green receiver card.
